Family Rafting in Georgia, Kids Welcome from Age 5
Most camps turn young children away. We welcome them from age 5, with kid-sized gear, calm guided stretches, and a feast that wins over even the pickiest crew member.
An adventure the whole family shares
Around Georgia the usual minimum age for rafting is the teens. At our camp on the White Aragvi, children join from age 5, riding with a parent and a certified guide in the same raft. That makes us one of the very few places in the country where a family with young kids can raft together instead of waiting on the shore.
- Properly sized kids gearSmall life jackets and helmets that actually fit, not adult gear pulled tight.
- Calm, guided sectionsFamily runs use the gentler stretches of the river, with the guide setting the pace.
- Briefing kids understandSimple, friendly safety talk before anyone touches the water.
- Warm food straight afterKhinkali and mtsvadi at the camp while everyone dries off and retells the run.
How a family day at the camp looks
Drive up from Tbilisi in the morning, about 1.5 to 2 hours on the Kazbegi highway (see the full day-trip guide). At the camp, the guides gear everyone up, run through safety in plain words, and answer every "what if" your kids can invent. Then you launch onto a calm stretch of the White Aragvi, paddle together, get splashed, and land at the camp to hot khinkali and mtsvadi off the grill.
Parents ask us the same three questions, so here they are answered:
Is it actually safe for a 5 year old?
Family runs use the gentle sections, every child wears a properly sized life jacket and helmet, a parent sits beside them, and a certified guide steers the raft. Safety briefing comes before every launch, no exceptions.
What if my child gets cold or scared?
Wetsuits are available when the water is cool, and routes are short enough that there is no point of no return. Our guides are parents' favourite kind: calm, funny, and endlessly patient.
What should kids bring?
Swimwear or sports clothes, shoes that stay on wet feet, a towel, and full dry clothes for after. Everything technical is provided by us. Full packing list on the FAQ page.
